Working on pronunciation

This household isn't quite crystal clear on proper pronunciation. Poor Andrew gets the short end of the stick because of a slight shortfall in his ability to say words with the letter 'l'. We don't help - he knows his pronunciation is a bit off and we tell him that is just fine as he is only five years old (Kate rides it hard). However, we all get a kick out of 'yunch at yiz's house' instead of 'lunch at liz's house'. [Yiz thinks he runs funny too - darn crocs, but will save that for another day.]

However, the king of un-pronunciation is Seanie. Can't blame him - if Andrew gets a bye because he is just five, the almost two year old should get a lot more leeway. Unfortunately, his lack of pronunciation is clearly heard by all around him. He drops the 'r' in shirt and changes the 'tr' in truck to sound like a 'f'. If you didn't know, truck and shirt are very common words in the vocabulary of a toddler boy now twelve days shy of his second birthday. It turns people's heads, in particular Grade 1 and Grade 2 girls. They know those words, and know they shouldn't be said - they giggle a lot. Alas, Seanie just keeps on talking, oblivious to the distraught brought on by his pronunciation.

Weird stuff this pronunciation. Kate never had an issue. Andrew has a few hick-ups. Deckle's is crumbling under peer pressure and sounds just like Andrew (oops). Seanie just has his own way (aka fourth child syndrome) - a few grunts, a few groans, a lot of whining and an emphasis on the f sound and dropping of the 'r's.

My little guy is still missing a few sounds. He replaces all "k" sounds with "t." fyi- We have two kitties. Much chuckling by the neighbors. :)
