I am tired, and should be folding laundry

The water in the basement has been resolved - some 55 feet down the drainage/sewer line, the plumber dude hit debris. With his little device, he cleared the line and the excess water in the pipe quickly disappeared. The culprit - tree roots most likely, and on city property, well beyond our property line. The contractor and the plumber (independently)said the city won't touch this topic despite the issue being in their pipes, on their land, so it will be our responsibility to have the line cleared regularly. I guess this is pretty common - just really bad luck.

The contractor sent in his team to peel up the newly installed, but now very wet carpet. The damage is actually very minimal - a hallway, 20 feet long, five feet wide. I think the carpet is on order and will be reinstalled shortly. For what could have been, we got off pretty darn easily.

The gas line on the stove has been fixed and the BBQ now works. The house doesn't smell at all for its little wet foot incident. So, we are back on track.

Jim left for the east coast for the rest of the week. Thankfully, my dear mom, obviously hearing the slight distress in my call, has decided to fly east to visit me for the rest of the week. She arrives tomorrow and is staying until Sunday or Monday. It will be nice to come home to some company, and perhaps the start of a homecooked meal. The kiddos will be ecstatic about her presence! Not sure why she wants to come - 'hi come to messy house, with missing electrical fixtures, piles upon piles of laundry, tons of boxes, and help me with my four kiddos' - but I will stop questioning it and just gladly accept the help.

The kitchen dude (aka Wayne) will be back with his team on Wednesday to install the knobs and pulls on the kitchen cabinets as well as to finish off the entertainment unit paneling ... while the sound guy (aka Frank)is here installing the monstrous, but I am sure soon to be well loved television in the family room. He was by the house this evening - just post-Jim's departure (with the wallet fiasco and all) and before I had fed the little ones - and wanted answers on drawer inserts, cutlery location (questioning where it is now) - and just couldn't do it. My mom will be here and will gladly negotiate the drawer organization with Wayne.

I just finished ordering my groceries on-line - they arrive after 5:30pm tomorrow - so we will be a well fed little family in no time. Off to fold some laundry and climb into bed at a no-so tardy hour.

Tomorrow comes early, garbage day and all!

No surprise that you're tired! Sounds like the house is really coming together. When do we get to see some pictures? :)
